"Charles Fischer is one of the most enthusiastic, dedicated, and wisest practitioners I have ever worked with, and he is THE finest middle school teacher I have known in my forty years of experience in education. Steinbeck describes great teachers as follows, "They did not tell - they catalyzed a burning desire to know. Under their influence, the horizons sprung wide..." This epitomizes Charles's practice."
I have been working with students ever since I was a senior in high school in 1988 when I volunteered in a Kindergarten classroom. Since then, I have worked with a variety of students in numerous settings, including: gifted & talented students at College Academy and M.A.G.I.C., special needs students at Camp Northwood, rural students in Maine, inner-city students in Atlanta, and public and private school students in Massachusetts. I worked for 11 years at Sparhawk School, where I taught math, social studies, language arts, Socratic Seminar, and numerous elective classes to students in grades 4-12; mentored numerous teachers; was the Middle School Director for many years; and even served as Acting Headmaster for five months. I also taught middle school language arts for 8 years at Aspen Academy in Greenwood Village, CO.
